Stress – The Number One Beauty Killer– How to Deal With and Manage Stressful Times

Stress can be a killer, not only to your emotional well being, but severe stress definitely shows on one’s face. Have you ever noticed the crow’s feet around someone’s eyes as they squeeze their eyes during times of stress?
The furrowed frown marks which appear on a person who is upset & worried? Well we here at Happypappy not only care about your outward beauty, we realize that to attain true beauty, it has to start within oneself, so I am going to give you ways to manage your stress , so that you will achieve calmness and peace within oneself, leading to happiness and inner and outer beauty. Many people used to believe that stress would almost always be caused by external factors, for instance extremely stressful situations in life beyond our control, such as divorce, loss of a loved one, moving house or financial troubles. Understandably it would seem very normal to be stressed, afraid and confused during these traumatic times, but research has shown that it is actually how we ourselves deal with the situation in our lives which determines how we handle the stress.
Stress is caused when we do not know, or have the tools to cope with the situation happening in our lives. The first thing to do is to identify the reason behind our stress. We have to change our way of thinking before we can learn to have inner peace and tranquility in our lives! So after identifying the reasons why we are experiencing the gut wrenching , terrifying, adrenaline producing symptoms of stress, the next thing to do is to say to oneself, “this is not going to destroy me, I am going to face this problem as a challenge, I shall control my feelings “ Don’t forget the old adage ‘ the power of positive thinking’! You want to be in control, you have the power to control and manage the stress. Push away all negative thoughts of insecurity and low self esteem. Be alert and aware of your inner thoughts and when these thoughts come in to your head, ‘change the subject’ , you can physically do this if you stay aware at all times, and consciously change the thoughts from negative to positive , and you won’t believe how a sense of calmness, inner peace and clear mindedness will follow. This is the beginning of coping with stress.
Stress relief not only comes from within, use every resource at hand to help you. Think of your friends and acquaintances, do they have a positive influence on your life? Only surround yourself with positive, happy and encouraging people during your struggle. Meditation is a great stress reliever, it clears one’s head of negative thoughts and energy, and consider taking up yoga which has so many health benefits along with the meditation. There are also other relaxation techniques, even simple stretching or the use of the new ‘stress ball’ are amazing tools in your stress recovery program.
Music is another tool you can use. Play the music you enjoy, the music which makes you happy. Another very helpful tool is to plan on how to manage your time correctly, purchase a binder and make separate compartments for lists of things to do, dates of appointments, remember this is all about you. You can even write down these resources and a list of positive things you would like to do to help yourself. Plan the amount of time you need to complete projects. The more you write down all the worrying little details of your life, the less you have to try and remember! Writing a daily journal can be very soothing and a great stress reliever, and so cathartic to get all of your thoughts out there, on to paper, and you will find that once you have written them down, you will stop worrying about the same things repeatedly. With all of these new wonderful activities always remember to do your deep breathing exercises, fill your lungs with fresh oxygen, which is very therapeutic. Start a new hobby! There are so many wonderful hobbies which will give you a feeling of enjoyment and accomplishment, for instance the new craze of scrapbooking is addictive and fun, or join knitting or book clubs where everyone chats away happily, as getting your mind off your problem is key. Gardening can be one of the most rewarding hobbies.
Collecting can become a passion, it doesn’t have to be stamps, it could be finding pretty pebbles on the beach, or outdoor activities like bird-watching, landscape painting to name but a few.
Stress relief businesses too are in abundance, treat yourself to a relaxing and enjoyable day at the spa, where their business is to relax you and take away all of your cares. Many women take their shopping seriously and truly enjoy a day of shopping and treating oneself, they don’t call it ‘retail therapy’ for nothing! A day at the beach, the feeling of nature, the wind in one’s hair, staring at the waves all will help you to find the peace you deserve in your life. Many gyms will advise you on the types of exercises that help relieve stress, and you will be amazed at the healthy, positive feeling you will get if you slowly start to exercise each day. Walking round a pretty park or swimming is a good start, and is scientifically proven to improve your mood.
Stress and Beauty – as the title of our article tells you, goes hand in hand and your beauty will not fade into a face of worry and wrinkles as this calmness and feeling of being in control overtakes you, and one day when you suddenly come to the realization that you have learned how to cope with stress, your inner and outer beauty will still be there. Along with the exercise never forget that a healthy eating plan and losing any excess weight will do wonders for your feelings of self esteem and all over general well being and happiness.
