Best Exercises To Flatten That Tummy!

Women today want flat tummies. There is a way to achieve this goal!

Together with a healthy eating plan, there are definitely certain exercises which can flatten the tummy.  Many people have fat covering their abs, and one has to specifically concentrate on this area of our body to get rid of the fat or the ‘tummy rolls’.  Cardio exercises are the best way to go.  Crunches can add definition (which you will get anyway), but you also need to burn the fat with diet and cycling, running or swimming.

So before starting to exercise to flatten your tummy, choose a healthy eating plan, or you will be wasting your time.  The healthy successful ones are:

  • Fat Loss 4 Idiots (Extremely healthy meals. Three meals per day plus snacks. Changes your pattern of eating, so that your metabolism works so fast that the fat is burned off very quickly, and in some case too quickly)
  • Weight Watchers. (Good if you can join a group, healthy meals. You do have to count points an plan meals)
  • The Atkins Diet (Very low carbohydrate. Fat is allowed to be consumed.  Very little natural sugar in fruits allowed)

Once you are eating healthily, and are on a regular exercise plan, you can concentrate on your tummy.

Follow this plan for the perfect flat tummy (Choose which exercises you want to do each day, and chop and change.  Start slowly and build up to the amount of times listed below):

  • Lift Your Head – Find a comfortable flat area preferably on a soft carpet or mat.  Lie on your back with your arms at your sides. With your feet flat on the floor, bend your knees.  Relax your abdomen, and then as you lift your head, inhale deeply, and as your head goes back down, exhale slowly.
  • Crunches for the Abdomen – Lie on your back on the floor.  Across your chest, place your hands. Lift your shoulder blades off the floor while flexing your abs. Your legs are flat on the floor. Repeat this 25 times.
  • For those ugly ‘love handles’ these oblique crunches will get rid of them. Put your hands behind your head, and lie on your back.  Over your right knee place your left foot.   Keeping your lower back on the floor, lift your shoulder blades off the floor, curl the upper part of your body diagonally across your body towards the left knee.  Contract your abs as hard as you can. Repeat 16 times before changing sides.
  • The Long Arm Crunch – This exercise strengthens the internal obliques, the external obliques, and the rectus abdominus.  Lie on your back with your arms outstretched above you, next to your ears, and clasp your hands.  With your feet flat on the floor, bend your knees.  Contract your abs as you lift your shoulder blades off the floor. Lower your shoulder blades and repeat 12 times.
  • Act Like Superman! – Lie face down on the floor.  Raise your left leg and your right arm as far as you can without it hurting. Hold that position for 5 seconds and relax before switching arm and leg.
  • Exercise Ball Crunch – With your feet on the floor, sit on the ball. Let the ball roll slowly back until your body and thighs are parallel to the floor. Raise your body 45 degrees and tighten your abs.
  • Oblique muscle workout – Do the same as above but move your feet closer together.

A few little helpful tips:

  • Instead of full cream milk, drink skimmed milk instead to prevent gas   and bloating. All dairy products can have this effect.
  • Water helps your digestion. Drink on average, eight full glasses of water per day. It also helps to curb your appetite.
  • Eat more meals a day (they can be small) but eating more often will kick start your metabolism (or as mentioned above, the FatLoss4Idiots diet keeps your metabolism working overtime).
  • Consistency is the key- keep at your ab exercises, and never give up!

You should start to notice a difference in six to eight weeks, and don’t give up then!  Continue on the diet you have chosen, your general fitness routine, and the exercises above and your tummy will be the envy of everyone!  Good Luck and have fun getting healthy!
